Friday Crafternoon & New Zealand Riesling Challenge LaunchFriday Crafternoon & New Zealand Riesling Challenge Launch

Another Friday comes (and is rapidly going) and the world of Deflux is tremendously busy. But we've launched another site - with a couple more on the way - and as such we decided to treat ourselves with a Crafternoon, kicking off with Ralph's Three Boys Aftershock. If you want a taste you'll have to be quick as bottles are disappearing off the shelves at pace by all accounts, and there's only a keg (or two) in existence - come on Pomeroys, hook it up!

At 7.1 there's a fair kick, and I've chosen to follow up with tastes of Tuatara's Ardennes and Emerson's Weizenbock. It's promising to be a good afternoon!

Putting aside out affiliation to craft for a moment, then, back to the NZ Riesling Challenge. Created by Neil Charles-Jones and Mud House Wines, the challenge pits 12 winemakers against each other working with the exact same grapes (supplied by Mud House) and charged to make their own interpretation of the Riesling variety.

The question to answer being how much the grapes influence the wine compared to how much the winemaker does. The judging is still to happen but you can pre-order cases of this dazzling dozen (and they are limited) from the site and conduct your own "research"... and for a moment there's a pre-order discount so don't delay.
