How Many Design Company's Have Their Own Bike? How Many Design Company's Have Their Own Bike?

Some of you may know Simon, some of you may know his work, and most of you have probably been overtaken by him at some stage, especially if you drove in from Sumner to town last year. A 6 foot tall guy on a crazy looking track bike (ie. no brakes and no gears) is hard to miss!

Well Si decided to take a welding course and from there decided to actually build a bike, so for the last wee while he's been getting together everything he needs to set up his very own bike building empire. Every week something new has arrived at work for Si, whilst we've all looked on, jealous and curious as to what was actually going on. And then the frame appeared. And then more parts. And then painted parts. And then yesterday the bike arrived - assembled, painted, with an attention to detail you'd expect from a designer, finished in two tone Deflux red, with polished DEFLUX lettering, and gold highlights.

She's a thing of beauty and a true Deflux build - stripped of the stuff that slows you down to create a lean mean speed machine with really sinister looking drop bars, and some gold teeth for good measure. As much as it pains me to say in public but Si might actually be an engineering genius, which means he's pretty good at a heck of a lot of things. He tells me he's got the next 3 bikes planned out so watch this space...
