One Book, One Twitter - Neil Gaiman's American Gods
So two things I've noticed. No-one knows what to do with Twitter really, and no-one seems to read books anymore (although after playing with an iPad yesterday I see e-books coming back in a big way!)... but trust Wired to apply their trademark perception and playfulness to see what happens if you apply the Digg community idea to a real-time experience. So around the world people are reading a book together and tweeting their comments, thoughts and questions to make the 2.0 hipster version of the oh-so-square book club.
And the book? Neil Gaiman's American Gods which is a mind expanding, genre bending piece of magical realism delivered with Gaiman's mix of dark humour and subversion of genres. Gaiman is one of the best authors around (in fact the only disappointing thing of his I've come across is his website - Neil we can book you in late June if you're listening). This book is amazing. It's also big, unwieldy, disturbing and the type of book that can sustain a worldwide discussion over the next 8 weeks. It's really good. Honest.
And it's not too late to jump on the Twitter train but you'd better get going....
