One of our friends Jenafer Matthews has launched a website dedicated to exploring local culture and city affairs in Christchurch. Started because Jen has returned to ChurChur from New York and in her words:

Deflux Day is a long standing tradition and when it's over it means that the year is coming to a close. Well D-Day-Twenty-Oh-Nine is over and the year is pretty much too... before we know it we'll be in the future, a whole new decade to get excited about on our doorsteps.

Google may be an increasingly scary proposition with it's wealth of data and insidious hooks into most aspects of our lives, yet we cannot turn away - only hope they remain true to their motto!

So we Gmail, Gchat, use Google Docs, Google Maps, Google calendars, and even think about catching the Google Wave. Then we check our Google anayltics and see how many people have Googled us!

We at Deflux have a neat wee collection of gaming consoles, from Ataris and Nintendos and Segas to the smaller handheld games and Watches. Gaming culture has always been pushing the boundaries both in technology and in design, it is a culture where functionality and aesthetics combine to show us a new world, it tries to represent the future of things to come, a new train of thought, a break in what is the norm.

It's funny how Flash is what drew us to the web almost a decade ago. The idea that the web could be engaging in that way, that it could move about and play music - as opposed to simply rendering text for you to read on you 15" CRT - doesn't sound that revolutionary now, but it was a huge step in the evolution of the web.

It's always nice to have visitors from Auckland grace us with their presence - see I'm an ambassador for South of the Bombay Hills relations - and last weekend whilst enjoying a refreshing Emersons at the Bike Thief (and see below for a cool 3D interior tour of that great establishment) we ran into Mike, Mike, and T-White.

We are so stoked with the new bowl at Thompson Park and the dawn of summer so figured why not support a lowbrow get together put on with my after hours brand Committed Few.

So get your friends together bring out your old school rides, park em up, get a skate on and catch up.... anyones welcome.

I promised myself (and everyone else) that I wouldn't turn this into a music blog, but The Transistors' debut LP deserves it's own wee post. As a bit of a back story I'm slightly obsessive about music, and vinyl in particular.

Some of you may know Simon, some of you may know his work, and most of you have probably been overtaken by him at some stage, especially if you drove in from Sumner to town last year. A 6 foot tall guy on a crazy looking track bike (ie. no brakes and no gears) is hard to miss! 

Ah, Fridays. They're always welcomed, especially after the compressed rush that is a short week. Which makes the collective consciousness of the office start to think about 5pm and where we might perchance happen upon a refreshing ale.
