The Christchurch Music Industry Trust (Chart) approached us when they needed a complete site overhaul and we were more than happy to help. Music and design go together like, well, coffee and design, so we sat down and explored a new look with a focus on structuring the wealth of content in a logical and user-friendly way. Chart is huge - band listings, gig guide, industry directory, news source, blog and more - so we spent as long working through the architecture as we did with the design which has paid dividends.

Homestyle Magazine are not just great people who put out a fantastic publication, but a publication that offers well written, insightful articles about homes and lifestyle at a level which most can relate to - and this point of difference has been key to their success. They approached Deflux with a brief to make a site as visually appealing as the magazine, and one that was as easy for Homestyle to update with each issue as it was for users to navigate and read.

The choice of Druapl was simple, providing the power of content management and the ease of updatability (not to mention the search benefits).

A site that embraces the tasteful minimalism of Modern Architecture Partners' existing branding, Deflux researched and selected a search engine friendly flash based content management system to develop the new site on. This platform allows MAP to update the site with ease, but also provides the elegant interaction of flash along with a focus on strong imagery, clean lines, and use of space.

Ekowood needed a new website that truly reflected their premium wood flooring. Deflux commissioned professional photography to make the product jump off the screen and rolled out a Drupal installation to allow content management. A flash presentation on the homepage is complimented by a wood sampler based around iTune's coverflow. A fresh approach to viewing stockists, combined with a great balance of technical and product information make for a website that is as useful to the industry as to the general public, with a strong design that really captivates from the outset.

We've worked with Kaikoura's Hapuku Lodge for many years and the increasing focus on the web has led to continual evolution online. The latest iteration of the website is a content managed solution with a range of features including 360 room panoramas, multiple email databases and newsletter functionality, online bookings, and media and trade log-ins to service the industry. But the true jewel in the crown is the Google Earth 3D modeled fly over of Kaikoura and the Lodge which was well ahead of the curve at the time and shows Hapuku's embrace of new media channels.

Sos Store is a High Street retailer in Christchurch that offers premium streetwear and footwear, with many brands on offer exclusive to the store. When James approached us - having previously designed and developed his Embassy website - a blog approach was highlighted as the best way to keep up with the ever changing releases and product. However we knew Wordpress probably wouldn't cut it, so a Drupal based blog was built, allowing for more freedom of design and functionality.

Armitage Williams are a construction company with a long and distinguished history, especially in Christchurch. We worked with them through their rebranding process and print materials and then approached the website. With an approach that balances content management and ease of navigation with striking imagery and flash elements, our brief was to bring together function and form.

Some brands, like people, just have a huge personality. When Henk approached us about taking Farm Smokehouse, relocating it and adding a restaurant to his successful smoked salmon business, Holy Smoke was born. After the logo process we decided on a flash minisite to promote the brand and capture the personality and sense of fun through animation. It's a refreshingly different way to deliver the message, through intuitive discovery - as people roll over and click the philosophy and humour of Holy Smoke is revealed.

We've worked with Trade Aid now for many years when the idea of Sweet Justice was born we were there to help bring it to life. After packaging the range of products we developed a CMS website to support the product launch, and to be used as a platform for change and education.  Easily updateable, Trade Aid recently used it to promote their anti-slavery in Chococlate campaign. The site also creates a community around participation - go on and post your own Fair Trade recipes or sign up for news - which was quickly embraced.
