Branding

Saviour Logotype

Saviour is a contemporary menswear boutique in Christchurch. Working with the client from the store's beginning, we worked through a range of names and approaches before settling on Saviour and deciding on a bold black and white appproach. Saviour stocks a range of brands - both classic and fashion forward - and the main challenge was producing a captivating brand that would appeal across age groups and tastes.

RedBull EITS Logotype

Red Bull approached us to produce the Eye In The Sky Logo with an pretty open brief, although incorporating the Red Bull logo - and colours - was of primary concern. The result was a logo that encapsulates the event, a bike race through the streets of Auckland primarily meant for track bikes, with a strong brand presence. The stylised Auckland skyline, the bike chain framing, the tri-spoke reference - with many logos less is more but with the nature of this event it was a chance to produce something fresh and creative.

NZ Barista Awards Logotype

Deflux were asked to produce a logo to rebrand the NZ Barista Awards, and deliver something that was more contemporary and approachable. We explored a range of directions before settling on the quirky tamper with wings design, which was refined over time and through consultation worked into the final logo. The mix of the strong vector imagery with the contemporary fonts was brought to life through colour, carefully navigating the golds and browns to find a palette that references coffee and competition without becoming too dark and muddy.

Mink Hair Logotype

Mink wanted something fresh, light, and unique when they approached us to brand their new hair salon. We responded with a contemporary font that we customised to suit, and the Japanese inspired branches which give the logo both weight and impact, reflecting the structure and cutting of hair. In green, inspired by the client's art glass collection - an image of which was used as the supporting visual for the brand - the Mink Hair logo was immediately recognisable, exciting and welcoming - exactly what the salon itself came to be.

Little Ones Logotype

Little Ones is a London based premium Nanny and Domestic Services recruitment agency, with some very high profile clients. Their logo didn't convey their market position, and it didn't capture their crucial point of difference - offering bilingual staff.  So we looked to design a logotype that adressed these concerns, all the while ensuring that the design was clean, legible and connoted a certain luxury.

Intercap Logotype

Intercap is a boutique merchant bank with a strong New Zealand focus. We were approached to brand Intercap and worked through a range of concepts that were clear and concise with a logotype that conveyed New Zealand in a subtle and refined way. Colours and fonts were explored with the red and black chosen as a colour scheme not well used in the financial world. The fern circle was then developed as a visual identifier that could be separated out and developed through application.

Holy Smoke Logotype

Some brands, like people, just have a huge personality. When Henk approached us about taking Farm Smokehouse, relocating it and adding a restaurant to his successful smoked salmon business, Holy Smoke was born. A huge fitout and restoration of the classic premises ensued, whilst we explored and developed the brand down to the very smallest of details based on his iconic Woolston premises.

Hifidelity Logotype

Hifidelity was an enjoyable branding process, given our love of all things audio and tech. Research into competing brands and approaches was intensive, as we worked to avoid the traditional audio signifiers. The result became an abstracted logotype that could be a turntable or a speaker, and we enjoyed people's suggestions as to what it was exactly.

Exclusive Events Logotype

Approachable yet connoting a premium feel, the Exclusive Events logotype uses the double E to provide a strong visual identifier that has recently been turned into a pattern to grace their latest marketing collateral. Clean and strong, the logo conveys Exclusive Event's modular approach to event and destination management - offering tailored solutions to corporate and private clients who want to engage in anything from special events to team building throughout New Zealand and Australia.

Ecobaby Logotype

Ecobaby Store approached us to produce a logo that embraced the green philosophy behind their company - selling natural baby products online - but that didn't fall into the trap of becoming just another "eco-" brand. It was a fine line to walk and research into competing brands was exhaustive, as was the concepting process. The end result was a triumph of careful custom typograhpy, with just the right touch of embellishment.
